Charles T. Herndon, Sr.

Charles Herndon, age 87, of Leakesville passed away December 18, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was born to the late Mr. Leonard Earl and Susie Davis Herndon. He graduated Leakesville High School and joined the United States Navy where he proudly served his country for four years. He worked most of his life as an electrician. He was a member of the Lion’s club in California. He was a faithful member of Washington Missionary Baptist Church in Neely. He was an avid bowler and has several medals from the Senior Olympics.        

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Susie Herndon; brothers, William Floyd Herndon, Richard Earl Herndon, Clyde Ray Herndon and Fred Eugene Herndon; sisters, Mary Lavene Ezell and Julia Lynell Massey.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Shirley Herndon, children Pamela (Andy) Breland, Denise (Donnie) Craig, Charles “Terry” (Lisa) Herndon, Jr. and Leonard (Natalie) Herndon; brothers, Leonard Lloyd Herndon and Lyman Graham (Jean) Herndon; sister, Ann Earlene (Marion) Pierce; grandchildren, Dax Rau, Jessica Telegan, Matthew Craig, Ashley Herndon, Matthew Jones, Daryl Hicks, Pamela Moyer and Angel Herndon; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.     

The Visitation for Mr. Charles Herndon will be Friday, December 21, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Washington Missionary Baptist Church in Neely. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Rayburn Freeman officiating. Burial is to follow in Washington Missionary Baptist church cemetery.  Pallbearers include Dax Rau, Butch Ezell, James Walley, Shannon Walley, Derrick Hillman, Joey Herndon, Larry Pierce, and Ronnie Pierce.
