Lula (Dantzler) Snipes - Gilbert

Ms. Lula M. Gilbert, age 89, passed away peacefully Monday, September 3, 2018. A native of Moss Point, Ms. Lula moved to George County after Hurricane Katrina. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Pascagoula. As long as her health allowed, she enjoyed reading and taking long walks. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many. She will be greatly missed.        

She is preceded in death by her first husband and father to her children, Harry Snipes; husband Jim Gilbert; parents, David “Jack” and Gladys Dean Dantzler; siblings, Marie Whitehead, Lester Dantzler, Margie Ermis and Jack Dantzler, Jr. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Larry (Linda) Snipes and Suzanne Snipes; grandchildren, Chris (Valeria) Snipes, Carey (Chris) Rouse and Angie (DJ) Turner; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.   

The Funeral Service will be on Friday, September 7, 2018 beginning at 11:00 in the chapel at Moments Funeral Home with Ms. Gilbert’s nephew, John Dantzler, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Griffin cemetery.
