Abner Gibson, age 77, of Lucedale passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. He was an Elvis Presley enthusiast and greatly enjoyed singing Elvis songs. He also enjoyed carving walking sticks from the tree roots on his property. He would personalize the sticks for each recipient. He was a loving man who will be dearly missed by his family and the community
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Bugg Gibson; his parents, Thomas J. and Irene Hollaman Gibson; brother, T. J. Gibson and sister, Betty Strahan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Shelia Dueitt, Kelly (Doug) Hubbard and Vicki (Brian) Smith; grandchildren, Bradley Miller, Brianna Smith, Abigail Hubbard, Lilykate Hubbard and Canyon Smith; great grandchild, Annie Miller; siblings, Mable Wiggins, Beatrice (B.J.) Hudson and Lorena Clark; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for Mr. Abner Gibson will be Monday, December 28, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in the funeral home chapel beginning at 10:00 AM with Bro. Paul Brashier. Burial will follow in Rocky Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers include Dean Howell, Louis Dungan, Brian Dungan, Gerald O’Neal, Mike Hilbun and Billy Dickson
