Creola C Jones

Creola Christman Jones, 93, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at home in the presence of loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Leroy Jones, who passed in 2003.

Mrs. Jones was born on May 19, 1930 in Calhoun County, Mississippi but she spent most of her life in Wayne County, Mississippi, where she taught at Clara Elementary and Wayne Academy. She also taught at Sandhill Elementary in Green County, as well as Clark Academy in Clark County. Mrs. Jones had a true love for teaching and fondly remembered many of her students. Church also played a very important role in her life. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church in Wayne County. She later moved to Lucedale, Mississippi in the late 90s and attended Crossroads Methodist Church of Lucedale. Mrs. Jones moved to Prairieville, Louisiana in 2011 to live with her daughter Nancy Braud, where she attended Meadows Chapel Methodist Church. During her later years, she enjoyed working with church committees and groups with her friends. She lived a life of service to others and always projected love to all of those around her.

Memories of Mrs. Jones are cherished by her three daughters, Mary Davis (Bill) of Hurley, Mississippi, Nancy Braud (Alvin (D)) of Prairieville, Louisiana, and Marcia Jones of Kuwait. Mrs. Jones enjoyed the love of her five grandchildren, Amy Byrd (D) (Kenley) of Lucedale, Mississippi, Prent Davis (Sarah) of Mobile, Alabama, Amanda Mason (Jeremy) of Long Beach, Mississippi, Kristina Thibodeaux (Travis) of Prairieville, Louisiana, and Tara Landry (Brandon) of Denham Springs, Louisiana. She was blessed with 10 greatgrandchildren, Logan and Marissa (D) Byrd of Lucedale, Brynn Sweetapple, Eaen and Trey Mason of Long Beach, Anderson, Dylan, and Darcy Thibodeaux of Prairieville, and Lilith and Alexander Landry of Denham Springs, as well as many relatives and friends.

Visitation in Louisiana will be on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 New River Street, Gonzales, Louisiana.  The funeral service will begin at 11:00am.

Visitation in Mississippi will be on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Moments Funeral Home, 7158 Hwy 63 South, Lucedale, Mississippi.  The funeral service will begin at 11:00am.  Burial will follow at Crossroads Methodist Church.
