Doris “Dot” Walley’s love of life and family didn’t come to an end with her death. Her loving heart left a beacon of light to all of her family. On November 22, 2021, Doris passed away at the age of 85, after a challenging battle with dementia. Her loving family surrounded her at her home in Leakesville, Mississippi. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her loved ones will continue to honor her legacy by living life to the fullest while having fun. She was known to feed you well and taught many of us how to cook our first meal. If you were fortunate enough to learn her tips and recipes, her food will continue to fill many bellies for years to come.
Doris Yvonne Allen was born on November 11, 1936, in Canoe, Alabama, to Ernest George and Frances Fairee Allen. She will meet with her loving husband, Joe Mance Walley, one grandson, Justin Walley, both of her parents, and siblings, Randy McCraney and Sandra Wilkins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beautiful daughter Debra Joe White; sons, Allen Shane (Marian) Walley, Tony (Felicia) Walley, and Hal B. (Cherrie) Walley. Doris was also survived by her brothers, George (Maria) Allen, Larry (Valene) Allen, David (Beverly) Allen, and Mack McCraney. She was a proud Mawmaw to 14 grandchildren, Tammy (Gus) Delucia, Jennifer (Manny) Cueva, Christina (Mitchell) Dixon, Aimee (Tommy) Hernandez, Shana Mathis, Bridget Floyd, Joey (April) Walley, A.J. (Brittany) Walley, Mance Walley, Brent Walley, Dakota Suchy, Randi Cole, Dylan Cole, and Jovy Walley. She also cherished numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The Visitation for Doris Walley will be Friday, November 26, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Unity Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her husband.
