Dr. Roland D. Turner, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022. He was a graduate of Richton High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married Marian Neubauer on August 28, 1951 at the US Naval Amphibious Base Chapel in Coronado, California. He graduated Dental School at Loyola University and began his practice in Leakesville in the late 1950s. He continued his service to the community serving as Mayor for some time. He later moved his practice to Pascagoula. He spent time organizing and traveling on Mission Trips in Guatemala, Honduras, Belize and Korea covering a span of 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marian Lorraine Neubauer Turner; son, Kenneth Duaine Turner; parents, Rev. Luther Kelly and Maggie Earle Breland Turner; siblings, Nelda Holifield, Edith Perry, Herschel Turner, Theresa Dossett, Mae Gill, Dr. L. D. Turner, Roudet Turner, Pete Turner and Jean Cooley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Stephen (Cathy) Turner and Allen (Paulette) Turner; daughter-in-law, Shelley Turner; grandchildren, Marjorie (Johnathan) Sanders, Olivia (James) Post, Beth (Shane) Brown, Charlotte Michael, Marsha (Matt) Smith, Terra Turner and Sophia Turner; great grandchildren, Matthew Michael, Alyssa Michael, Jessie Turner-Hall, Mackenzie Smith and Ellie Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for Dr. Roland “Brud” Turner will be Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Unity Baptist Church. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the Church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
