James “Jim” Leland Merck, Sr., age 67 passed away April 1, 2021. He coached Dixie League baseball in Lucedale for over ten years. He worked as a welder over 45 years and was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father, Pawpaw, brother and friend.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, James Bryan Walley; parents, Rev. John and Ruth Merck; brother, Michael Len Merck.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nancy Bryan Merck; children, Lee (Christie) Merck, Rebekah (Roger) Merck Redd and Matthew (Courtney) Merck; grandchildren, Maggie Merck, Brandon Walley, Caroline (Cole) Merck Claton, Brad Walley, Colleen Merck, Hayes Merck, Abigail Merck and Reese Merck; siblings, Tim (Dee) Merck and Krystal Merck Yates; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for Jim Merck will be Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will follow beginning at 10:30 AM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Lee Merck and Rev. Eddie Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Brandon Walley, Brad Walley, Hayes Merck, Roger Redd, Craig Harrell and Bryan Byrd.
