Kenneth McLeod Obituary

Kenneth Allen McLeod was born November 20, 1940 in Leakesville, Mississippi to the late David Roderick (Jake) McLeod and Nora Edna (Knighten) McLeod. He passed suddenly in Beaver Dam Community, Lucedale, Mississippi on May 16, 2022, while tending his beloved farm. He was a born-again Christian and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was unashamedly bold about his belief in God and a great man of faith and character. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and a great friend to those he met. He was a man of his word. He was blessed with the gift of hospitality and loved nothing more than cooking for and feeding all those who visited his home. He cared greatly about the future of his country, his family and cared for his neighbor as he did himself. He never met a stranger and was always eager to share stories of his life experiences, as well as laughs and kind words. Kenneth was a class of 1959 graduate of Leakesville High School. He received his BS in Chemistry from University of Southern Mississippi in 1965. He met the love of his life, Linda Brannan McLeod, at church, and the two were joined in Holy matrimony in March 1965. He was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He wore many hats over the years. He began his professional career as a school bus driver and high school math teacher. He later became a welder and helped build the Alaska Pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez in the 1970’s. He became a certified welding inspector and worked on multiple gas refineries, nuclear power plants, military installations, and other areas of critical infrastructure construction for many years. He was a long-haul truck driver for a year when construction took a downturn in the mid-1990’s, and loved traveling the United States, as he had been to all but one state before he passed....and he always said he did not want to fly over the ocean so far to go to Hawaii anyway! He retired at the young age of 78 to care for his loving wife of 57 years. He built several fish ponds on his acreage and intended to spend his retirement fishing with his family and friends. Although he wore many hats over the years, his favorite to wear was (literally) his Tilley hat while working on his beloved Mississippi farm caring for his cows, crops, and most of all providing for his family through his endeavors. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Arlis D. McLeod and Samuel R. McLeod; and sister, Loretta Mason. He leaves to cherish his memory forever, a loving and faithful wife, Linda B. McLeod; one son, Kenneth Allen (Jennifer) McLeod II, of Chugiak, AK; three daughters, Lindell (Jim) Klebesadel of Chugiak, AK; Alicia (Michael) Holloman of Lucedale, MS; and Dr. Suzanne (Marcus) McBride of Pensacola, FL; one brother, Charles (Barbara) McLeod; two sisters, Rachel (Willis) Baggett, and Mary Ann (Morgan-deceased) Farmer, all of Lucedale; 7 grandchildren, Grace Anne Holloman, Andrew Thomas Holloman, Ryan Michael Holloman, Hannah Suzanne Klebesadel, Emma Jane Klebesadel, Lindsey Dawn McLeod, and Leah Paige McLeod; as well as several devoted sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Moments Funeral Home at 7158 MS-63, Lucedale, MS 39452. The funeral services will be held in the Chapel at 11 o'clock.
