Lillie Maude (Pruitt) Smith

Lillie Maude Pruitt Smith, age 84, of Lucedale passed away January 17, 2022. She was born in Clarke County, Mississippi to the late William T. Pruitt and Mrs. Ila Pruitt. She worked growing up on her parents’ farm, worked as a waitress growing up in Quitman, Mississippi and worked as a seamstress in clothing knitting mills in Moss Point. She settled in Helena, Mississippi, where she and her husband, Louis Webb “Jack” Smith, raised three sons. The family then moved up to Barton, Mississippi in the late 1970s where they continued to worship together at Barton Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, working with the church Vacation Bible School, church nursery, fishing, puzzle books, cooking, crocheting, gardening, referring family ballgames, reading her Bible, and spending time with all her grandkids and great granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Webb Smith; siblings, Earlene Allen, John D. Pruitt, Helen Pruitt, Roy Pruitt and Harvey Pruitt.    

Those left to cherish her memory include Sons and Daughters-In-Law,  Louis and Gale Smith, Joey and Belinda Smith and Steve and Tammy Smith; Grandchildren, Webb Smith, Kelsie Smith, Delaney (Tamen) Ashmore, Casey Smith (betrothed to be Jonathon Halley), Paige (Nick) Taylor; Great Granddaughter, Ella Casey Taylor; Sister, Hazel (Carl) Bonner; Brothers, Earl (Nell) Pruitt and Jake (Jean) Pruitt; Sisters-In-Law, Earline Reeves and Faye White; Brother-In-Law, Ray (Ruth) Smith; numerous other relatives and friends.

The Visitation for Lillie Maude Pruitt Smith will be Thursday, January 20, 2022 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Agricola Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will follow beginning at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Perry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Agricola Cemetery. Pallbearers include Danny Box, Scott Brown, Stanley Jordan, Tim Faggerd, Gary Long and Doug Crump.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
