Lionell Smith

Lionell Smith, age 85, passed away June 7, 2023. He was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Shriner’s for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and always knew where the white perch sweet-spots were. He was a devoted husband, loving father and Papa who will be greatly missed.              

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Smith and Lillie Bell Dickerson Smith; numerous brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Voncie Patrick Smith; children, Pamela Eileen Smith (Johnny) Graham, David Lionell (Amy) Smith, Susan Lagene Smith Churchwell and Karen Voncille Smith (Troy) Murphy; grandchildren, Derek (Madison) Graham, Holly (the late Levi Scarbrough) Scarbrough, Kayla (Joanna) Smith, Jonathan Smith, Haley (Chris) Parnell, Heather (Tavaris) Vaxter, Ciara (Damon) Brewer and Roman (Ana-lee) Murphy; great grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan and Bailey Scarbrough, Mila Graham, Holden Yace, Brycen, Tycen, Zayden and Mia Vaxter and baby Daci Brewer; special nephew, Kirby Allen (Janet) Greer, Jr.; numerous other nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.          

The Visitation for Lionell Smith will be Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers include Derek Graham, Jonathan Smith, Roman Murphy, Chris Parnell, Damon Brewer and Ricky Churchwell. Honorary Pallbearer is Ryan Scarbrough.
