Robert Frank Smith, Jr.

Robert Frank Smith, Jr. passed suddenly at the age of 59 on December 31, 2019. He worked hard at farming and was a member of the George County Co-op. He greatly enjoyed sharing the outdoors with his grandchildren. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.                  

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Earnest and Bertie Lee Smith; maternal grandparents, Monroe and Beatrice “Shank” Bolen Holliman.  

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of almost 40 years, Anna Darlene Davis Smith; children, April (Gary) Thornton, Rodney Wayne (Amanda) Smith and Wendy (Lonnie) Harper; grandchildren, Tyler Thornton, Blain Thornton, Clayton Harper, Laney Harper, Reanna Harper, Tinleigh Smith, Rylan Smith and Regan Smith; parents, Robert Frank, Sr. and Pearline Holliman Smith; siblings, Kathy (Don) Jones, Brenda Stringer, Glenda (Bruce) Martin, Peggy Cathey, Woodie Smith and Mike (Edna) Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.             

The Visitation for Robert Smith, Jr. will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home Saturday, January 4, 2020. The Funeral Service will follow beginning at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Sam McClure and Bro. Alton Stokes officiating. He will be the first family member laid to rest in the cemetery he created, Smith Family and Friends Cemetery in the Barton Community. Pallbearers include Chandler Smith, Grandon Lowery, Tim Stringer, Logan Smith, Tray Overstreet, Larry Caudle, David Moore, Matthew Payne and Robert Kirkland.
