Westley Smith, age 30, passed away May 11, 2022. He worked as a Correctional Officer at South Mississippi Correctional Institution where he was recently promoted to Corporal. He was a huge fan of Alabama football. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and grilling. He was a devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, and friend. He loved the Lord and time with his son. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edna Smith and Raymond Smith; maternal grandparents, Betty Bavar, Bobby Chancey and Charles Bavar; uncle, David Chancey.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jessica Smith; son, Brantley Smith; parents, Tom and Sheila Smith; brother, Nathan Smith; niece, Madeline Smith; father-in-law, Mike Rogers; mother-in-law, Pamela Rogers; sister-in-law, Millicent Rogers, her children, Destiny Thomas, D’Anna Thomas; sister-in-law, Jennifer Mizelle, her daughter, Elizabeth Nolan; sister-in-law, Linda Kay Rogers, her children, CJ Rogers, Colby Rogers and Ashlyn Stewart; sister-in-law, Brandie (Talor) Strain, her children, Tucker, Tyson and Taylee Strain; aunts and uncles, David (Monica) Smith, Lydia Klug, Gordon (Judy) McElhenney and Ricky (Rebecca) Chancey; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for Westley Smith will be Saturday, May 14, 2022 at First Pentecostal Church of McLain from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be Sunday, May 15, 2022 beginning at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Pastor Marc Rutland and Coleton Corey officiating. Burial will follow in McLain Cemetery.
