December 22, 1934 ~ July 24, 2021 (age 86) 86 Years Old

William Hicks Obituary

William Ralph Hicks, Sr, age 86, passed away July 24, 2021. He was a 1953 graduate of Leakesville High School and furthered his education at The University of Southern Mississippi where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance. He was then invited to serve in the United States Army where he spent some time in Germany. Upon his return, he met and married Dorothy Cecile Taylor and raised one son, William Hicks, Jr. He greatly enjoyed farming the land and growing cows. He was a faithful member of Leakesville First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, brother and dear friend. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Morgan William Hicks and Hilda Crocker Hicks; brother Marvin Wayne Hicks and sister, Clara Jean Dearman.

His memory will be cherished by many including his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy Hicks; son, William Ralph (Shelly) Hicks, Jr; grandsons, William Ralph Hicks, III and Samuel Staff Hicks; siblings, Peggy Turner, Margaret Ann Shaw and Clifton (Donna Kay) Hicks; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The Visitation for Mr. Ralph Hicks will be Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Leakesville First Baptist Church from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in the church sanctuary beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Hicks Family Cemetery.
